Alliance's (NHNLA) Place Based Training: Housing Counseling Program

For Housing Developers
Housing Action is excited to
bring 2 free statewide Community Housing Development Organization
(CHDO) trainings, sponsored by HUD, including 1) Building Home
Training (A HUD Step-In training), 2-days in length; and 2) Financing
Development that will cover sources for multi-family financing
and Proforma development, 1-day in length. These trainings are
only available to current CHDOs.
Building HOME provides an overview of the HOME Investment Partnerships
(HOME) Program, including changes made since publication of the
HOME Final Rule in 1996. Participants will become familiar with
all program activities, including homeowner and homebuyer, rental
housing, tenant-based rental assistance, and CHDO activities. This
is a comprehensive introduction to the HOME Program, as well as
an important refresher on the basic elements of the Program.

Financing Development is a one-day session that will provide an
hands-on, introductory overview of the elements of affordable housing
finance. Participants will review primary funding sources available
for affordable housing development and participate in hands-on
case study exercises to develop basic funding models. Participants
will use Excel spreadsheets to develop predevelopment planning
documents, including Sources and Uses Statements and Operating
Proforma projections, understanding the connection between these
key documents and using them to determine basic project feasibility.
