Each year, hundreds of the state’s housing professionals and activists come together at Housing Action Illinois’ Annual Conference to network and obtain the latest training and information on affordable housing issues. The annual conference is Illinois’ largest, yearly gathering of affordable housing professionals. We invite you to join us!

Scholarship Requests

This year Housing Action can only offer a limited number of scholarships. We must therefore limit them to ONE individual per membership organization that otherwise could not afford to attend this conference, but would benefit from the trainings. The scholarships will allow an individual to attend the conference for the reduced rate of $100, which covers the cost of meals provided during the conference. The lovely Parke Hotel & Conference Center in Bloomington, IL will be hosting the 2010 Housing Matters Conference and they will be offering a special discounted room rate of $75.00 + 12% tax ($84.00 total/night) for conference attendees!

In the email you should mention: Housing Action, your name, address, telephone number, and your arrival and departure dates.

Ending Homelessness: HEARTH Act and Continuing Systems Level Change

Continuums of Care and individual agencies around the state have been working on systems level change to adopt a greater emphasis on homelessness prevention, rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing.  Passage of the HEARTH Act will accelerate the pace of these changes.  Because regulations implementing the HEARTH Act are still pending, these topics are subject to change so we can plan sessions that are especially timely.

Golden Trowel Award Nominations

Housing Action Illinois presents its Golden Trowel Award to individuals and community-based groups that have made significant progress towards achieving housing justice in Illinois.  We are seeking nominations of people doing outstanding work in the field of affordable housing in Illinois to be recipients of the 2010 Golden Trowel Awards.  Nominations in the past have included staff and board members of nonprofit organizations, government officials, and members of the media. Nominations are due by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010.
